As an Occupational Therapist I believe that everyone has the right to reach their potential, to engage in the roles and activities that define them and to achieve a sense of well-being, whatever challenges their mental or physical health may have for them.
With over 20 years’ experience working in NHS and private mental health services I have learnt that with expert guidance everyone is able to realise their potential. My expertise in enabling people to engage in their occupations, with realistic goals, promotes recovery and builds resilience to manage their health into the future.
I have worked for NHS services in Gloucestershire from 1998 to date. I have extensive mental health clinical experience with Adult, Older Adult and Dementia services; specialising in Mental Health and complex health needs assessments and interventions. I have experience in in-patients, rehabilitation, children’s services, and minor equipment adaptations. I have been involved in national and local research programmes and developed group intervention programmes. I regularly offer student placements and am passionate about developing the therapists of the future.
As a private occupational therapist, I have had the pleasure to work with children, their parents and teachers, to develop mental resilience to enable the child to engage in their education. I use individual and group programmes to identify the challenges the children face and develop coping strategies the children, their families, carers and teachers can implement to overcome them.
